Noordkaap in Cologne

Künstlerinitiative Noordkaap ist Anfang Februar zu Gast bei Jack in the Box.
Noordkaap tourt seit 2011 durch Europa mit einem wachsenden Ausstellungsprogramm zum Thema Populismus. Eine Gruppe internationaler Künstler realisiert vor Ort Videoarbeiten, Interventionen, Installationen und Performances. Sie reagieren hiermit auf lokale Phänomene und aktuelle soziale Entwicklungen. Nach München und Istanbul, reist die Ausstellung weiter von Köln nach Lissabon und Budapest und resultiert Ende des Jahres in einer Übersichtsaustellung in Dordrecht in den Niederlanden.
In Köln sind neue und schon existierende Arbeiten zu sehen von: Arturo Hernández Alcázar (Mexico Stadt), Hans van den Ban (Amsterdam), Nada van Dalen (Dordrecht), Dan Dryer (Keulen), Foundland (Amsterdam), Fabian Hesse (München), Oliver Kunkel (Köln), Daan den Houter (Rotterdam), Filippo Minelli (Brescia), Federico D'Orazio (Den Bosch/ Bangkok) en Art van Triest (Utrecht).

In jeder Stadt sucht die reisende Künstlergruppe Kontakt zur lokalen Kunstszene und erweitert das Ausstellungsprogramm. Noordkaap veröffentlicht in jeder Stadt eine Ausstellungszeitung. Neben Künstlerbeiträgen finden sich in der Kölner Ausgabe Hintergrundartikel von u.a.: Benjamin Dürr (Journalist), Lotje Dercksen (Researcher IKON TV) und den Philosophen Gebroeders Meester. Der Cartoon fuer diese Ausgabe ist gezeichnet durch die Rotterdamerin Aimée de Jongh.
Kollaborationspartner in Köln sind CAT Cologne und JACK IN THE BOX.

Noordkaap in Istanbul

Johannes Brechter, who do a puppet theatre about the famous Turkish characters Karagöz and Hacivat, which are the leading characters of the traditional Turkish shadowplay, that was popular during the Ottoman period. Karagöz en Hacivat are modelled after two workers, who entertained their colleagues during the building of the Mosq in Bursa during the reign of Orhan I (1329-1359). Because of the delay their acts caused, they were executed. After their execution, they became working class heroes. Brechter performed his play in the streets of Istanbul.
In six cities: Munich, Istanbul, Cologne, Budapest, Lisbon and Dordrecht, a series of exhibitions will be realized, with artists producing work on location. The participating artists are encouraged to respond to local phenomena, folk customs and current social developments. Each hosting city is their stage and working ground for a period, where Noordkaap connects with international and local artist, artists initiatives and the public in the streets.
After the exhibtion 'Adios Holanda' in Munich (Germany) the next city is Istanbul (Turkey) in september 2011.

The participating artists are encouraged to respond to local phenomena, folk customs and current social developments. SCRAP ADDICTS

Saturday evening, the 21st of august, you are very welcome to check out SCRAP ADDICTS,
presented by Johannes Brechter.
Johannes, your host/ artist/ dj/ bartender/ garbage man & entertainer of the evening will share his ideas and results of a summer in Holland at Voorstraat 123, 3311EN Dordrecht.
Last month Johannes returned to Dordrecht to join Recycle X (a cooporation with The Patching Zone). During his residency the artist, living and working in Munich, continued up-cycling tape, plastic bottles, wire, wood, milkbottles, gaffa tape, pvc pipe into scrap personalities.
Recycle X is a cooperative project between Noordkaap and The Patching Zone that was launched in January on the Voorstraat in Dordrecht. A team of five artists / designers lived and worked for seven months in the street and invited residents, shop owners and visitors for a series of workshops and do-it-yourself design processes and experiences.Participators Noordkaap: Gilberto Esparza (Mexico City), Stealth Unlimited (Rotterdam), Johannes Brechter (Munich) and Kitchen Budapest (Budapest).

Noordkaaps dreamteam: ROEL & JOHANNES & GERT
MeBike celebrates the bicycle in all its clean and cool glory. Various teams will build their own dream bike from scratch and race against each other. On Friday, the teams will be introduced. Expect live music, performances and fireworks.

Brechter left out the rest area of the capitals and scraped line for line out of the black latex wall.

Opposite the town hall Brechter launched five black divers into the water, they might, or may not, guard the people.

Males with backpacks and baseball caps bravely cling onto cables high above the street. Boats were launched with waste plastic figures and small rods.
In 2010 Brechter finished his studies at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München, prof. Hermann Pitz.
